Nice. I wasn't changing the opener type for this garage. When the detached gets built, definitely look at side mount for that.

the My-Q app is fucking awesome. Didnt realise how much i'd love having the abilty to open or close my door from my phone
I use mine all the time. I have it set to close after 10 minutes because my wife leaves the fucking door open. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Going all in on cheap socks. These are half price for dark Friday. 6 pairs for 12 dollars. That's a dollar a sock.
I've documented my struggle with socks in the underwear/dad bod shirt thread. In short, I've tried like 10 brands, cheap to expensive, they all suck, lasting at longest 6 months. I'll stock up on these cheap ones and if one rips, I'll have a back up to take its place.
If these only last a few months then I'll go all in and replace my entire inventory with darn tough socks at $30/pair with lifetime warranty. Though I hear they are not hole proof either....
And that concludes my sock chronicles of 2023.

This is getting epidemic!
It's great as a standalone app (which is how I use mine), but Chamberlain has pissed a LOT of customers off by both discontinuing and actively blocking 3rd party integration. Still works great on its own but apparently a lot of people had it tied into overall home automation and that's all dead now, or dying. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2...q-integration/
This happened because apparently those who were using 3rd party apps were making massive API calls to their system causing delays. The same people who did that now have other ways around that and use something like Home Assistant. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Right, but that link is from Home Assistant saying they're no longer able to integrate either.
I mean there are always ways, but it becomes more and more niche, and takes more and more specialized knowledge or additional equipment to make it work.
Yes the MyQ is being removed from HA not the new option of using the ratdgo device. I already run Home Assistant because of all the automation stuff but I also don't use MyQ or any "garage door" stuff. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also it should be noted.. the big reason people got tired of the MyQ app... was because of ads.
Also if you are aware of HA you are way ahead of most people.
Agreed, I think I use MyQ more than any other of my home automation apps. Being able to set auto-close is also great. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I've been looking for a jackshaft opener as well. Home depot has the RJO20 for $535, if one wants to spend a bit more they have the new RJO10 with battery backup and newer features like remote LED lights for $598. I may pony up for the fancier one, it also doesn't need the cable tension monitor the older model used. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
i had myq tied into homekit via homebridge (3rd party api), never use the myq app and they killed it so i got a meross instead, pretty good for anyone who wants that same myq functionality even with old ass openers.
Have you given these a try? I've had bad luck with shit socks as well and came across these and they've been great so far a year in and no signs of wearing out yet. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Traeger Ironwood 650. $1499. Bbq galore wouldn't throw in any accessories so I will buy them on amazon.

With all the recent watch buying, decided to add one of these so I can actively rotate between 5 pieces at a time rather than, wearing each piece for a month or so and then moving to the other. I was finding that some of my pieces weren’t getting a turn for 10+ months.
