Consider a Shark or the Miele stick then. Dysons do not work very well.

My Shark has better suction than my Miele canister.

Very happy with our Dyson sticks, just replaced the battery for the first time in the ~9 year old one. It can do all but 2 spare rooms on a single charge. House is 80% thick-ish carpet. Without knowing my square footage this info is likely useless haha.

Our Dyson stick has an annoying pitch. I much prefer when she uses the Miele canister.

All I know about performance is that I have to blow out the stick one with the air compressor rather often. It starts to pulse when it gets clogged and makes an even more annoying sound

You'll be doing the same thing with the Dyson. They are not built well.

I had a Dyson stick, the battery died after about a year - ok, fine, whatever. But then the stick part just stopped working - the head stopped spinning.

We bought a Dyson V8 about 4 Years ago.
Replaced the battery once. No other issues at all.
We only use that for cleaning the kitchen floor after cooking. So relatively very mild usage.

You are correct. It is similar to V8.
V8 has some other attachments which will become handy if you are going to use it to clean the car. Also V8 has an attachment for stairs.
V8 also has bigger Dirt Canister Compared to Omni

Essentially the omniglide is unique in the dyson line because:
-Swivel pickup from front and back movements
-has a very small, if not the smallest bin
-comes with only the hard floor attachment, which cannot be swapped with anything else in the lineup. The fluffy head comes to a complete halt on carpet tests ive seen on yt
-the handheld tool would be pretty awkward to use since the head is so long already, and there's no flex in the crevice/brush tool
-has a thinner tube, so not compatible with other tubes / attachments
-very small battery rated for 20min / 4min on max
-should be the lightest in the dyson vac family

Re: dyson products. We've had the supersonic for 7 years now going 3+x a week... zero issues.
Have a V10 / V12 I use lightly with no issues.

We were between a Bissell and some off brand from Amazon that was reviewed by GoCleanCo here in Calgary. Worth taking a look at their reviews.

Ended up with the off brand one (BuTare). It's ok for battery but keeps the dog hair under control thankfully. Compared to my Kenmore pet canister it didn't do nearly as well in carpets, but I prefer the stick on the floors and stairs - they each have their place.

Miele's latest stick vac is the most powerful in their lineup for suction. You can also get a hard floor brush on their website in the parts section.

Dyson isn't great. I am just waiting for our canister one to die so I can pick up a Miele. The power head randomly shuts off mid stroke. Fucking irritating. Loose connection somewhere.

That Dyson omniglide is basically just a motorized broom for hard floors. I have one and it's great but it doesn't replace a vacuum. If you're going Dyson cordless, I'd stick with a v10 or higher for the battery and power. V10 and up gives roughly an hour of runtime and decent power for hard and carpeted floors. I use a v15 and am quite happy with it's performance. Yea, they do pulse and stop working when the filter is dirty or there is a clog but otherwise I've been pretty happy with mine

Since there is so much talk of Dyson here...and few people with battery replacements, I will just throw this out there for anyone who may not know of their existence. They make battery adapters for basically any brand, so if you don't mind it looking ghetto, you can get one that matches the batteries in your power tools lineup.

I got a ryobi one for one of my stick vacs (not dyson) and it works awesome. I got 6 batteries I can go through, and only cost me like $30 for the adapter.



Also, according to the vacuum store I went to recently, all bagless vacuums are basically finite products, dust gets into the engine and it dies a slow death. I hate bags myself, but after the vacuum lady told me this, I have started running bags on all my stuff, central vac, shop vac ect.
