Default Why should Quebec get more power than the rest of us?

Once again the Spoiled Brat of Confederation has elected a separatist government, and I will bet big dollars that within a year they will be clammouring to separate again. And of course the Montreal lawyer, Paul Martin will bend us all over and let the Quebecois fuck us all.

    I say let them go.
The scandals of the last 20 years have predominantly ionvolved Quebec somehow, and we spend a disproportionate amount of our national resources trying to appease Quebec.

    Why does Canada need them?

I agree that it sucks how Quebec recieves the most money from the surpluses of other provinces, and yet they still complain and want to seperate, but, Canada is far better of in the global market with two coast lines rather then one. Cant live with them, cant live with out them.

It will be a boom for the Maritimes. Nova Scotia will be the official Canadian east coast. What will Quebec have? Why will the US prefer to do business with people who don't like speaking English?

Has anyone been to Florida? If so, you no doubt know just what the Americans think of the constantly complaining, whiny, rude Quebec "snowbirds". Whereas, snowbirds from BC to Ontario, and the Maritimes are regarded as kindred.

It will be good for the west, too.
    Very good, indeed.

    Anyone disagree?

How can Quebec, with 25% of the nation's population, still be a "have not" province?

I'd love to see Quebec support itself as it's own country or whatever they plan to do. Maple syrup and their other limited resources that they offer to Canada will not hack it to support the economy of several million people

    ^^^^

How would it fuck up our economy?

I say Alberta + BC should seperate

With a coastline and oil reserves, we would own.

    Yes.

It would help our economy because Quebec receives billions of dollars in transfer payments each year from the federal government.

At the same time, we would lose a huge amount of our population, and a huge amount of our total GDP. It would also cost us billions each year in visas and border fees to transfer goods and services to the maritimes.

Quebec couldn't survive without Canada, and its in our best interest (and I say that loosely) that we keep Quebec.

The "blip" would be temporary. As the New Canada's GDP improved, being that it no longer has La Belle Parasite to support, our dollar would improve, and our trading relations with the US and the Pacific Rim would improve.

    Quebec would trade with...France!

Yes, our dollar would definately soar!!! Foreign investors love in invest in a country with unstable domestic issues.

Do you know how GDP is calculated? If you did, you would hardly argue that separation would boost our economy.

Finally, trade relations with the U.S. would be hindered, not improved. Quebec and Ontario have the best transportation routes to the U.S. of any region in Canada. We separate, and we lose those trade routes. And what does Pacific rim trading have to do with Quebec? Do you know where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans are?
