In the Looks Category the RX-8 donst even Compare to the 350z, IMO....i dont know about the Performance aspect though?

rx-8 has 250 hp/ 162.3 ft lbs with 2970 lbs estimated

350z has 287 hp / 274 lb-ft with 3,188 lbs

it has everything that a person could ever want for such a resonable price too, its also backed by Nismo and all the top brand JDM performance companies, when was the last time you say the Japanese market follow a car with such attention and detail

the rx8 is a piece of riced out shit....mazda is behind the times with it..they took ideas that were cutting edge 3 years ago and applied it to a car that theyre selling in 6 months

and whats with the backseats and the shitty srear doors..thats not a sports car..thats a saturn

hopefully theyll bring back the rx7

how many RWD saturns do you know of with a 250 HP/8500 RPM rotary engine mated to a 6 speed?

Personally, I'm a fan of utility. To have a performance GT car, you don't need to loose the rear seats! The only excuse for that should be if the car is mid engined.... or if it's a vette or other roadster

I've been following the RX-8 since the first reports came out, it looks like a fantastic car, but only time will reveal for sure.

Unfortunately, for 2005 Mazda declared they may bring back the rx7, depending directly on their ability to sell the rx8. So if the rx7 does come back (it wont), it will be a pussy whipped version of itself. IMHO, if they ripped out the back seat of the rx8, threw on an obese turbo, itd rock the 350z in pretty much every way.

It kinda sucks though, the rotary with a turbo needs to be taken care of, well rotaries in general. Very weak when it comes to over boosting and over heating. Thats pretty much the main reason they stopped sending rx7's over here... stupid warrenty claims.

So, for now, the 350z gets my vote. It still needs a rb26dett under the hood though!

TOUGH call. Both cars are legendary IMO (RX-7 and 350z), granted the 350z has been around longer. I like how the RX-8 seems to have a real trunk not a hatch like the 350z.

The RX-8 will be more original. The 350z's platform will be used, I think, in the Infiniti G35 Coupe. The RX-8 will have nothing similar to it --- at least from the Mazda name.

The RX-8 is different in a good way. It looks amazing in that Mazda yellow. Both are gorgeous cars.
