Too bad you don't even know half the story. Nowhere in the mall did the roof cave in. Drainage pipes from the roof lead throughout the ceiling of the mall, and there was so much pressure that it burst near the Ice Palace. Just went there today, only about 5 stores aren't open, all of which are crappy stores anyways. All the popular clothing stores like Banana, Tristan & American, Gap, Underground, Urban, Club Monaco are far away from where the pipes burst.

If you're up in Edmonton during the August Long weekend, you should go to the Heritage Festival in Hawrleak Park. Lots of stuff to see, and really good food.

If you're around on the Friday night, then the Taste of Edmonton may still be open. Its downtown, and you buy tickets, and sample some of the food from various restaurants around the city. Heritage Festival is hands down the better thing to go to, though.

The mall is OK. You can find pretty much everything you want under one roof. I imagine all stores will be open by August. Maybe even the FCUK store will be open by then!

Having a few beers in a patio on Whyte ave is good too.

If you really want to go to a zoo, go to the Calgary zoo. Edmonton's zoo blows, unless you like a really old train ride for the kids.

I agree with GTS Jeff about the other "site seeing attractions". The waterpark at the mall is expensive, unless you can get some coupons, or know some people who work at the mall or something. Check with the motor association if you're a member. They sometimes have deals.

anyway, if u want to save on the waterpark, go during a weekday (less ppl) and go after 6 (or whatever it is) so u get the "end of the day" discount. ull still have enough time to do all the slides and stuff.

I agree on the Heritage Festival, went around 4 years ago with the ex, and had a great time. Nice park, and tonnes of food from all different cultures. Good times for sure, if the weather cooperates.

Thanks for all the info guys. We plan on visiting the calgary zoo and some of the malls there. Plus we are bringing our dog so we can venture around for some parks. Plus maybe visit some old friends along the way.

Any drag racing events that week?

Sport Compact Challenge is on on saturday from 5pm -1am on saturday, and secret street is on friday night. both at race city
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

Whoa calm down it was just a question. All I was told was that the roof leaked/broke over top of the ice rink.
