Default Mazda 3 Sedan or Toyota Corolla S?

Yes, i know they're in different categories of vehicles, but i'm buying a vehicle for my gf before november. There's a large price difference in the 2 and i'm sure both handle different. But if it were YOU to buy the vehicle, which vehicle would you prefer?

i have no idea about the pricing of a corrolla, but wouldn't an S be around the same price as the 3 sport wagon?
if so, get the sport wagon!
if not, stick with the sedan!

I'm 5'8" and can never find a comfortable position in the Corolla. To me, it's the car with the worst driving position in history of car making since 1985.

    Get the 3.

But then again, if you don't want every guy asking her about her car, get the Corolla.

test drove the mazda 3 today. Was comfortable driving it and all, and it had a little pep to it (160hp, 150lbs torque). Problem is is that I just want the base model in auto (remember, gonna be gf's car), moonroof, and ac........but in order to get what she wants, it's gonna run me $23, 400 (includes gst + freight, etc). But to get the top model of the 3 will only cost me an xtra $1500. So I end up paying almost $25, 000. With spending that much money, what other cars are good for the price range.

This car is gonna be used for winter driving.

If you drove the base model, it comes with a 2.0 L 148 HP engine, not the 2.3. There's not much else out there with the same specs for the same coin, but it all depends what you want from it. If the main requirements are auto and AC, people opinions on a car enthusiast site are probably not gonna reflect what you're looking for.

Acura EL. I know it's a rebadge Civic but it IS an Acura.

Impreza TS. It's about $2K more but same horsepower and AWD is good for winter. But chicks may hate that styling.

    Other cars in this range:

    Civic/Neon/Cavalier/Sunfire/Ion/Spectra/Elantra/Lancer.

But 3 is probably still your best bet.
