    Arrow Quick Duty Fee Question

If the duty fees go by the value of the item being shipped to you (not sure if that's how it works...)

how much would i pay in duty on an item coming from the U.S. to Calgary labeled at a value of $100.00?

The seller is encouraging me to have the item shipped through UPS rather than USPS, but said he would label the item at 100.00 instead of $1,000. His explanation is that UPS will be cheaper to ship.

    Any ideas?

Pay another $5 in shipping and ask him to use USPS.

UPS will rape you if he uses UPS Ground. UPS Air doesnt charge brokerage fees like ground does, I think?

I bought 3 pairs of shoes that cost just over $100 and was sent by USPS.

There's zero duty, 7% GST and a $5.00 handling charge. FedEx and UPS rape you on the handling charge, so that's why you should avoid them.

My 8 dollar US badge cost about 30 bucks by the time UPS was done with me.

    DON'T DO IT MAN

I bought a $60 USD pair of gloves (that's what it said on the package)
so there was no duties, but UPS charged me $35.00 CAD for a brokerage fee. Avoid UPS
