if u have xp, sometimes they put firewall to be on by default.

click on ur network connections and right click the icon that says local area connection, under properites and Advanced make sure u have firewall unchecked.

This is how to fix it.

    1) Click "Start"
    2) Click on the "Control Panel"
    3) Click on "Network Connections
    4) Click on "Local Area Connection"

A window will pop up. It will show you receiving and sending out bytes.

    5) Click the "Properties" near the bottom of that window

A new window will pop up

    6) Click on the far right tap that says "Advanced"
    7) Click the little box that is beside the statement: "Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the internet
    8) Click ok.
    9) it is probably best to restart your computer.

The reason it is doing that to you is because windows XP comes with a built in firewall. Sometimes it will turn on during installation, other times it will not turn on.

This worked for me. I hope it works for you. Let me know.

    Pete

Edit: Damn, I didn't know someone typed that already...what a waste of time.
