I am sorry to any NASCAR, or BUSCH fans, but I dont like any of the drivers from those series...

another one that is clueless to the amount of work and thinking is involved in racing on the oval, yet you probably love drag racing.Originally posted by 1badPT

I'm surprised how many Villeneuve fans there are! The guy is a bad driver.
Myself, I'm a fan of M. Shumacher and Alain Prost.

I don't dispute the fact that he was good for 2 seasons... but he hasn't won a race since then. In fact he has only been on the podium 3 times since winning the championship (1997). He's also not even racing this year. It's fine for people to be fans, I'm just not one of them.Originally posted by hyperwhite

I will admit that he hasn't really been given a chance to shine because he's been driving JUNK since his championship.
Being able to podium in that old BAR was enough to be a pretty darn good driver! .Originally posted by JustinL

It's too bad he didn't get a contract extension with BAR this year. Imagine him in a competitive car. Rumors of Jacques going to Williams next year will be interesting. I'd like to see our only Canadian F1 driver (even tho he lives in Monaco and doesn't really care for Canada much) do well.

I wish I could be a fan of Jacques... but it's hard to cheer for someone who never finishes, and when he does finish it's at the back of the pack. Like you said Rage, he doesn't even live in Canada anymore, yet he races under our flag.
He's also pulled some exceptionally boneheaded moves that just stick with me. Like trying to pass three cars on the inside of a braking zone and ending up just plowing the other car off the track (and incidently killing a track Marshall)

I don't like watching Nascar though because regardless of how much is involved, all you get to see is Turn left, speed up, slow down  The road courses are a bit more interesting to me but why watch a sport that has interesting as the exception instead of the norm?
To me personally a driver not only has to be great in the car...but off the track as well...If they are great to interview, and towards fans, they that is to me what makes a great driver...Being a fan of Auto Racing for as long as I can remember...You constantly see post race interview where some drivers place themselves above all others in the room...*cough* Schuey *cough*...I had the great oppurtunity of metting Alex Zanardi (my fave driver in the world BTW) before Indy in Van a few years back, and to this day, I am yet to have a cooler expirience with a celebrity...
He was humble, so down to earth, and willing to take the time out for the people who support him...he even gave me a Barilla hat and had himself and Jimmy Vasser sign it...i was totally blown away...

Keiichi Tsuchiya is my favorite driver. Even though he has retired from professional racing. He's done it all, from JGTC to Le Mans to Drifting.
Mika Hakkinen
Ayrton Senna
