Yes, especially when it's -10. Basically helps your engine when you first start it. The block heater keeps the oil warm, thus causing less stress on the engine during it's startup.
why not? we live in calgary.Originally posted by szw

i use my seat warmers too!
you guys are joking right? -10 and you have your block heaters plugged in aready? where i use to live we didn't even consider plugging block heaters in till it was -30 to -40 out. lol.
I only use my block heater when its really cold out. And only at work. At home I have my own garage
my seat heaters though, those I use all the time
I don't have heated seats or heated mirrors but I have a remote starter so my car is usually nice and cozy by the time I get in:tongue:

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
not yet, i haven't.
but i hate the sound of my engine cranking on frozen oil...
I always mean to use it, but I am too lazy to plug them in..or I forget... Should write a sticky on my dash
Heated mirrors are useless, unless you park outside. I think I've used them twice alltogether between my last 3 cars. And yes- I love my remote start!Originally posted by max_boost

I don't normally plug my car in until its like -25 or so. I've got 1000 CCA battery and I've never had any trouble getting the car started, even at -35 without it plugged in. It wasn't fun getting it going when it was that cold, but it was possible.
Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.
I plug mine in at -10 or colder also. Any turbo vehicle I've had is really grumpy in the morning unless you plug it in....
Are you in Tulsa ? .. when my freind worked there for a year he plugged his car in one cold night....the next morning his neighbor came over and asked him when Oldsmobile had started making electric cars !!Originally posted by Weapon_R

I used to use it when the car was new. But last winter I didn't bother...
I took mine out..................................to make room for my turbo

If you plug it in for too long and in not very cold weather you can actually promote engine corrosion. You should only have it plugged in for a couple hours before leaving.
Get one of those electricity timers for this purpose.
