    Default BBQ propane tank refill

just like the title says. this question is pretty much for the gas attendents that fill propane tanks.

so i have a bbq propane tank and it still feels really heavy and all and u can feel thats theres propane left when u move the tank side to side. feels like i have more then half tank, just wanted to top off before going on our camping trip. so i go to the gas station to top off the tank. the guy attaches the nossel and litterally takes 5 mississippi to fill the tank, and feels just a tad heavier then b4. so my question is when filling up a tank like this is it a flat rate or do they fill by 48.9 cents a litre like the signs posted?

i was charged 12.00 at turbo so is that a flat rate or did they rip me off?

thanks i was just curious so next time ill just use up my whole tank before i fill

Most I see just charge a flat rate for a propane fillup (Usually 8.99 at Hughes here).

some places that sell propane for cars will charge by weight. other places will charge a flat rate or get you to exchange the bottle for a new one.

find a place with a big propane filling station, It will most likely be the cheapest.

just go to like co-op gas stations.
bring in your propane tank and ask them to fill it up.
they'll first check the weight and tell you how much you have left just in case it doesnt really need filling.

After they give you an estimate of how much you have in the tank, you can decide whether to fill or just leave it

filling a tank is like once a year (well depends on how avid of a bbq'er you are) but its not that much
