    Default Question about DSM swap

    just a few questions for fellow dsm drivers:

    1. My friend owns a second gen talon non-turbo, how hard is it to swap in the turbo 4g63? is it direct fit?

    2. What can be reuse? tranny? ecu? etc?

    3. Can a he get a first gen turbo 4g63? whats the different between the two gen anyway??

    1. you can swap in the 4G63 Turbo motor...you will need the motor, ECU, Tranny, Harness, and Misc other parts...ie I/C, piping, re-do the exhaust...I will includea few links for you to look thru at the end of my post...it will be a LOT cheaper to just sell this car and pruchase a Turbo DSM from the get go though...

    2. Nothing can be re-used persay...you will need everything I mentioned above, and a few other things...it will be a LOT cheaper to just sell this car and pruchase a Turbo DSM from the get go though...


    3. the 1G had 2 motors...a 6 bolt, and a 7 bolt...the bolts refer to the number of bolts holing the flywheel/crank assy...from 89-92 they had the 6 bolt motors, larger rods, and generally more reliable and stonger...in mid 93-98 (99 in the U.S.) they had the 7 bolt motor, weaker internals, but still will support 350HP IIRC, and prone to an issue called crankwalk...BUT, do not be alarmed by crankwalk if reading up on it...yes, it does happen, but its rare when you consider just how many 7 bolt 4G's there are out on the streets...I will also include a link for motor comparison for your friend...it will be a LOT cheaper to just sell this car and pruchase a Turbo DSM from the get go though...

    plus in the end you dont have awd and thats just a waste
