I think its kinda dangerous.
On my old car, my body shop took off both rebars without telling me and I ended up getting rear ended, and I hit the car in front of me. The car behind me, no damage. The car in front of me, no damage. My car, written off.
ive never heard that termed used for that part before....for a daily driven car i wouldnt pull it, you never know what could happenOriginally posted by 2000impreza

plus it might have some structural purpose to the car too
Its the bumper support. Honda guys take them off all the time to make room for big FMIC's. Its not really that good to take it out but its done all the time. I may have to take mine out to make room for my fmic this weekend too so well see.
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.
there is a proper rebar that can be purchased from the dealership that doesn't need any cutting but my buddy can't afford it at the moment cause he's a broke college student. so he's going to chop... errr i mean "modify" his rebar for now till he can afford to buy the correct one.
But think of the weight reductionOriginally posted by ecstasyracer

Well... the US spec one is not legal to crash standards here so I assume it is not AS safe as the CDN stock one....o well.. your friend will have to do what needs to be done???
I wish I could show you guys my "new" front bumper support in comparison to the old integra support.....the JDM one is about 1/8 the size of the old one, not a whole lot of protection....but DAMN it looks so much better!
