I was with a good club a few years ago... Inner City Boxing Club (269-4652). Its on 11th ave right across the street from coyotes. Typical membership is between $35.00 and $50.00 per month, depending on your age. If you join the club, you can go to the club and train as much as you like.

If you want to see a boxing match live, before getting involved, the Inner City Boxing Club holds amateur bouts at the beginning of every month (When i was training there anyways). Sometimes the fights are held at the danish canadian club.

Good luck in boxing... it'll get you in the best shape you could ever imagine.

Yeah inner city is top choice for boxing in calgary, but if you've ever considered kick boxing, it's an awesome work out as well. Mike Miles national kickboxing is the way to go for that....good luck!

Boxing and street fighting are very very different, if you want something of practical use there are many better alternatives.

For fitness it's a good way to go though.

Yeah... when you get in the ring it's different than it is on the streets, there is a type of respect you know? It doesn't mean you don't bash the guy's face in the best you can, it just means that when you get knocked down you know that your opponent isn't gonna come over and stomp you (He might even help you back up). You just can't trust the streets man... these kids don't fight with honour anymore, knives... guns... its dangerous now. Having said all that... boxing WILL help you in your fights... you'll be quicker, have faster reactions and learn to take a punch.

Personally though... boxing is the ULTIMATE workout, i can't ever remember a time in my life where i was in better shape than when i was boxing.

I did kickboxing while I was in high school for a while and it was an awesome work out. Teaches you a lot of practical skills you can use in every day too. Haha and you're a happier person cause you get to let all your aggression out at the gym instead of through everything else on everyone else

don't hop from boxing to kick boxing though haha.
my friend took boxing for a while, then he decided to go into kick boxing. but his habits stayed with him and when someone threw a punch he dodged it then he got kicked in the face.

Are there any other clubs in Calgary besides Inner City? Ones that you guys have experienced personally or heard good things about.
