    Default Turbo rebuild.

I need to have my turbo rebuild and I wanted somewhere in town to do it if possible. At the same time that is being done I would like to have it upgraded from the t3 it is to a t3/t4. Anybody on here had any experience doing this in town and what cost am I looking at to have this done??

I believe it would cost similar or cheaper just to buy a new one.

I can't give you a price, but I've had good luck dealing with the guys at Alamo Industries.

I think Alamo is too expensive. They quoted me $800 to rebuild a 14B. Well, you can buy a new Big 16G for about $850.

Alamo told me $800 to rebuild a pansy-assed T25. I bought a new small 16G for less than that.

I think with all the turbo fever going around these days, Calgary is ripe for a fair-deal turbo rebuild/upgrade specialist.

Yeah I agree. I have a t3 on my 300zx Stock turbo). I installed an intercooler and ARC blow off valve and I didnt hook up the bov right so I was leaking a ton of boost and didnt figure it out for a bit. Well I was running 18 psi when I thought I was running 12, It didn't wreck it but I am sure it wasn't good for it seeing how its efficiency max's at 14 and with about 2 psi lost through the cooler I am guessing it was pushing 20 psi and making alot of heat. Well If you or one of your buddies has an upgraded t3 or a new one for a good price let me know.

I just got quoted $450 for a complete overhaul of my T3/T4 from Alamo about 20 minutes ago. Give them a call and see what they can do for you. I've heard nothing but good things about Alamo except for their prices.
I just wish they were open saturdays. I work the exact same hours as they do so its a little tough to drop the damn thing off.

Ok great thanks very much guys. I hope they can just do the seals cause my turbo has no shaft play and the fins look great.

go to alamo, they sell everything you'll need to rebuild and upgrade a turbo.as far as all you guys with the t25's and mitsu turbos, the prices vary by mfgr.I just rebuilt my t3/4 this spring, the kit was 75 bucks from alamo(thats for a genuine garret kit not some cheap repo). My kkk k26 i rebuilt a few years ago was 200.They also sell all the comp wheels and housings for upgrades.A basic rebuild is easy to do,I've done a few now.you just need to be carefull not to damage the wheels.

Dont you need to balance the turbo afterwards?
I think I could probably handle the rebuild part myself, but its the balancing Im worried about.
Anyone know what Alamo would charge just for balancing? I'd call and ask but they arent open on weekends. I'd much rather do the work myself if its going to save me a couple hundred dollars. $450 for the rebuild seems kinda shitty when I can get a brand new T3/T4 off ebay for cheaper. Why rebuild when I can get a second one brand new?

you shouldn't need to re balance unless you change to a different comp or exhaust wheel.

Only heard bad things from Alamo, from long delay times, to screw ups on rebuilds. Pricey as well.

Precision Turbo makes a lot of the turbo's out there originally (such as all of the Sound Performance series turbos, which they then take, modifiy, rebad, and sell), I've had a few turbo's done there. Good work. www.precisionte.com
