Default Any good deals for Shaw Cable?

My promotional deal with Telus is about to expire, and they are jacking the price up by quite a bit. I was wondering if anybody knew of any good deals with Shaw right now.

Not really interested in a Cable TV bundle with it, looking more for some sort of "installation and modem included" deal.

I suppose I should ask if anybody has the "Lite" version of Shaw and if it is as slow as it sounds.

    Thanks in advance.

i'm working on saturday at chinook 3-9 at the shaw cable booth
u can come see me if u want
right now we're offering a rebate kinda thing for the modem
so u pay 60 for the modem, then $60 goes back onto your bill
u also get 1st month free and if ur not going with cable tv then your next 6 mths are 29.95/mth and after that it's 37.95/mth

Lite is slow if u download
if u just look at emails or do research it's fine

I'm on lite speed. It's alright.... definitely faster than dail-up but slow if you do any gaming or download movies/apps/music. If you are just on the net to read email and to do moderate surfing lite speed is a good option for you.

its basically about $41 a month (incl. tax) for a better service than telus offers. if you go to surftime you will get a free modem. if you go to shaw directly, not a free modem. its a tough choice

Go with telus or nucleus DSL, unless you download really big files.

Shaw lite is about 2-3 times faster than dialup, it sucks...Im on it right now. It costs $29 a month.

Telus and Nucleus DSL are both $29 a month, and about 30 times faster than dialup.

Shaw high speed is faster than both of these, and is $41 a month. If you dont download big files often (big like movies) then you dont need this.

After being on lite for a month I can tell you there is no reason to pay for it whatsoever when telus and nucleus will offer DSL 15 times faster for the same price.

dsl is great for big files, and they wond disconnect you for using too much bandwidth like shaw does.

Omg.. adsl feels wayy toooo slow when opening pages. I like my pages to appear right away and I would rather pay for the instant loads than to pay a fraction of the cost and wait longer for the load. I'm impatient.

Its gotta be an issue with your software. DSL tops out at 187k/sec, thats far beyond whats needed to load pages instantly. Spyware maybe?

    I dunno....
I noticed the difference asap. I switched from Shaw over to DSL and it nearly felt like dial up again!! It was so frustrating. Then I moved outta the house and stopped using the DSL and went back to shaw.
    Probably then, ha ha ha

There is one problem w/ Telus (imo)... their policies. Have you ever try to fight a billing issue. I did, 3 times... swore Telus off forever!!!

i am fairly sure nucleus will do whats called a "dry line" installation...you have to have a phone line coming into your house but it doesnt have to be active. may want to call and see though.

I got that flyer too, I'm a little leery about 3web though. I recall the old days of dialup that they had a lot of advertisements that you had to wade through.

I'm not sure if they do anything like that now, but they're still kind of sketchy.

I'm on shaw extreme aka extreme bandwith abuse lol
It's super fast and about $51 a month regular but I'm still paying the promo $39/month.
IMO it's great. Damn fast everything without any traffic limit to worry about.

Telus DSL is a turd, I only went on it for the 24.99 1 year promo when I moved. Before that I was on Shaw HighSpeed and it was soooooooooo much faster than Telus with a lot less service problems in my area. Couple weeks ago I went back to Shaw and upgraded to the xtreme speed, it's damn good, how highspeed should be. Typical speeds are 4800down/980up.
