    you cant just take any processor and mash it in to any socket... list the socket ype and/or the mobo brand and model number and then you might get a response.

    well, if its over 2 gig hz, then its likely a p4 , wich , is a socket 478,,sometimes people are really anal on here..
    and if hes lookin for an amd .. well , then he should have stated

    just buy a new 2.8 for 249 and oem depot

    LIKELY, but not always, he could want an amd xp, or amd 64, amd M, or an intel p4, or a centrino... lots of diffrent options

    I have an Elitegroup motherboard. the board has as follows:

    -four PCI, one AGP8x slots. two DDR ram slots and two SDRAM slots. up to 333mhz front side bus.
    -AMD 2400+ processor with heatsink and fan already mounted using thermal compound.
    -one 256mb DIMM of PC2100 DDR ram, but the board will support PC3200 up to 1GB (two 512 dimms)
    -onboard sound, and lan
    -2 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 1.1 ports on backside, as well as supporting 2 additional front USB ports.
    -drivers included

    i dunno exact socket- help me pleez
    it has a 2400+ athlon on it so it should have same socket rite/

    so that would probably be a socket A or socket 478 board (same thing)

    Umm... No. socket 478's are Pentium 4 sockets. You probably mean socket 462.
