Looks incredible. I'll be getting it really soon. I've had the japanese version for a few days but haven't had a chance to play it.

Man I've been waiting for this game ever since I beat Star Ocean 2 for the normal playstation. My bro and I bought it a couple days ago, and it's pretty good so far. Battle system is just like the one on playstation, fun as hell! . It's definitely worth the money
The damn kid working at EB kept trying to convince me I needed the walkthrough as well.
him: "You'll probably want to pick up the walkthrough"
me: "Nah, I'm fine."
him: "Trust me...you'll NEED the walkthrough" *gives me look*
me: "Didn't I just tell you, NO?"
oooh i wanna get this game......anyone willing to sell hahaha
fuck.........this game looks uber good! thats it investin in a ps2! how long is the gameplay in this game?
Haha they always try that shit on me too.Originally posted by Kamen

Then I inform them about this neat website called gamefaqs.com where I can any walkthrough I need for any game for free! Shuts them up real quick, and they even forgot to ask if I wanted an extended warranty on my system!
yep, I just started playing it in nihon-talk and it's pretty neat.
looks like it'll easily beat out ffx/x-2, which weren't shabby games.
it feels alot more like Xenosaga, which btw (the second episode), came out in japanese already .
anyone want a copy?
anways, back on topic...do the EB game dorks actually try to force you to buy the guide? the guy just asked me once, and I said I had already completed and own the japanese version (of ffx-2). didn't say anything after that!
i'd get the guide for the cool pictures they have, but then that's not worth 20 some bucks.
has anyone played Xenosaga Ep 2?
if you like rpgs, you're using the wrong console...get a ps2!Originally posted by GQBalla

gameplay is around 50 hours, but I'm doing a rush and going for 25-30 like I do for every RPG! I just don't have time/patience to get every secret item and finish all the mini-games.

now now, don't completely count out the x-box, fable is coming out for it, and should prove an interesting rivalry to the rpg's on the ps2. It is supposed to be the rpg of the century or something, or so says ign.com. Although it isn't the classic turn based combat system, it should still prove worth playing.Originally posted by Skyline_Addict

it's games like this that made me buy a ps2, so now I have both x-box and ps2
man I'm about 3-4 hours into the game. Is it just me or are the battles FAWKING hard???
Yea, it's like policy to try and make people buy the guide to whatever game possible; even when you say no they will restate their offer like you can't handle the game without one. Bastards.Originally posted by Skyline_Addict

it's harder than any of the turn based games I've played.Originally posted by V6-BoI

as long as you know what you're doing, implement a good strategy and use the right tactics, you'll be fine.
I like the battle system, I think it's better than turn based. But I just don't like the fury bar, and the fact that skills take away HP, and not MP
well, i'd rather it take HP (especially for HP based characters).Originally posted by V6-BoI

you do know that if EITHER HP or MP is 0, your character dies!?
it's happened to me a couple times, where my character died because he had 0 MP and alot of HP left over. sorta makes sense, because the body can't function without the power of the mind. also, the fury bar is required for a game like this. otherwise you would be pressing X/O to no end, and there would be no strategy (or less of it). fury is basically stamina, which has to be reserved during a battle, otherwise your character will become weary (happened to me). if your fury or "guts" as i'm used to calling it (as it is called in the jap version) is low, just stop your character from doing anything for like one second and your
guts bar will get back to 100. 100% is also required to parry attacks, which is a very very useful tactic as it can make your opponent dizzy, should you be successful - it can change the tide of the battle. a good strategy and a bad one can be the difference between winning a tough battle in less than a minute or getting rocked in 30 seconds.
but yeah, the battle system requires you to be alot more quirky and requires the player to be using his mind for the entire battle, instead of the very common "just keep pressing X/O until the battle is over". even the easy battles are no walk in the park, unless you actually put in some effort.
me likes!
