Yay! They're finally here! I was starting to wonder what happened to them, cuz they were suppose to be here in August?

hmm how much does that thing cost?
should have brought over the roadster instead.
Where were these pictures taken?
Less than $20K! The convertible might cost a little more, but still very cheap!!!Originally posted by DreammEr

The Smart roadster will probably sold as a Dodge as shown in one of the auto show earlier in the year.
Smart is cool but for sure unsafe for highway, 0-60 in that thing is about 15s. You won't be able to effectively merge safely.
It's purely for street/city use only. Good gas mileage, kinda cute environmental friendly way. So far MB only show test with a car. I would love to see how this thing hold up against a truck. I got a suspiction that smart is do poorly againt truck bumper height. Last thing I need a bumper driving right thru my windshield.
And I think that's why Smart is not going to U.S.
the roadster is going to be called the dodge slingshot:Originally posted by method

here's another pic - weird tire size!
one more! the guy was some mercedes exec type who said they start selling them in a month for $16K-$20K. I guess they are okay for tree-hugger types that don't like cars, acceleration, or highways. or probably hip-hop. it won't be on any G-unit videos.
daym thats pretty cheap haha
Where are the pics showing it getting T boned or sideswiped? How safe would THAT be?
Don't worry guys, the first year run of 1000 has all been sold. If you didn't put money down already, you won't have one for a while.
It turn heads, and if we don't have bumper car winters, I'll drop some cash on this in a heart beat.
Really? My 1991 VW Golf Diesel has a zero to sixty time of 21 seconds and merging safely has never been a problem. People who refuse to yield to the merging trafic are the real threat.Originally posted by Xtrema

Thats strange because the smart has been cruising the autobahn since 1998.It's purely for street/city use only.
Good gas mileage is an understatement. This thing gets over 80 MPG, thats fantastic mileage! I wish it had a bigger fuel tank though... 22 Liters (4.8 Imperial Gallons, 5.8 U.S. gallons) is about 23 liters too little.Good gas mileage, kinda cute environmental friendly way.
A car that weighs almost three times as much!So far MB only show test with a car.
Well... considering that the bottom of the smart's windshield starts about three feet above the ground that would be one BIG truck... perhaps an 18 wheeler? My Firebitd is more likely to have a truck's bumper come through the windshield.I would love to see how this thing hold up against a truck.

I dunno... I think they are scared to death that it might sell like hotcakes and they wouldn't be able to build 'em fast enough! But seriously... the U.S. is Sport Utility central... small hatchbacks only seem to sell well there when there is a fuel shortage, or a threat of a fuel shortage. One day people will wake up and smell the roses and then you won't be able to give away those huge fuel gulping SUVs.
maqbar: Good pics.
Here is a few good crash test videos of the smart.
I would be glad to be in the smart for this one...

canada's crash test standards are way stricter than the states...why do you think we don't get the lancer evo? if this car wasn't equally as safe as any other car to drive it wouldn't have passed, period.
