Default cv boot, need help, *picture

Hey I was wondering if someone could help me, Everytime I turn the wheel and accelerate I get this knocking noise coming from the driver side axle area...I checked it out today and noticed that my boot was torn, I'm not 100% positive if this is my cv boot or not but could this be the problem?

I believe it is, looks like the boot is torn. If you go to Canadian tire, they will give you a $100 credit if you bring your old CV's back.

I dont see why a tear in the boot would cause all the noise though?

The boot the full of grease, what happens over time is the rubber will start to tear from all the wear. The grease will then leak out, which causes the gears the not to be as lubercated. The gears start to wear and will start to create the clicking noise when you turn the vehicle.

If your mechanically inclined it isn't that hard to replace, it's pretty much the same procedure for all cars. I would recommend finding a helms manual before you start, mainly for torque specs.

2 weeks ago we did both axles for my friend i think it was 160 each side and they refund your 100 if you bring back your old one, it's Refurbished so it's cheaper.

It took us an hour to do the right side b/c we couldn't release the lower arm because it was rusted shut. But if all the bolts comes off easily you should be able to do it for 15mins to half an hour to do an axle (2 guys, power tools) ...

Btw is was an 88 civic hb and we got the axles from Partsource

I bought the whole passenger assembly for like $80, after core exchange. My dad's friend did it for like $20. I hear it's pretty easy, but I didn't have any time to work on it.

I just went thru the same nightmare ...i would reccomend going to canadian tire and renting the axle lug socket (Make sure you measure your nut first)..the rental is free you only have to pay a $50 deposit on it ....buy a new axle for your car and go home and change it then go back to crappy tire and get your deposit back for your socket and bring your old cv in as well to get your $80 core charge refund...

drive axles only vary in price by about $10 from place to place and i have canadian tire to be the cheapest....

if you need help Pm me and i MIGHT be able to give you a hand
