Default busted a nut on that biatch (guitar repair advice needed)

just putting new strings on the old POS, and just as i'm tunning the low e, the nut breaks.

i got a new blank from guitarworks, but it needs to be filed to proper height and the inlays for the strings have to be scribed in.

i really don't want to fuck this up, so does anyone here have advice on how i can do this without breaking ANOTHER nut.

see there is the problem, thats $70 not going to my car, lol.

if its that hard to do i'll probably take it to a guitar tech, unless anyone on beyond happens to do guitar repair work

    Good one.

That sucks man....I would search around on the web to see if you can find out how to take the nut off. It may save you some cash.

taking it off isn't an issue, the problem i'm having is cutting the grooves for the strings, i have no clue how wide they should be, etc.

Here is a good site that might help you out.

    Replacing a nut

Personally, I'd get it done by a tech. I recommend Fretworks off of Blackfoot , they do awesome work.

    Hope i could help.
