ACAD/SAIT WAP hotspots

My finance is in the photo major at ACAD and has a powerbook with a built in airport extreme (802.11b/g).

Is there anywhere on the ACAD/SAIT campus that she can wirelessly connect to the interent?

You need to get the the WEP encryption code for the network administrator. Just call the tech department and ask them for it.

In the Hart building I get wireless. Works fine for me.

um....it works sometimes on the third floor of john ware, b/c the anteneas are right on the roof

I heard from some of my instructors that its pretty hard to get the wireless inside any of the buildings there because theres too much interference. They said that if you go outside to like the soocer field, or somewhere away from the buildings you should be able to get it pretty easily.

Most of the wireless at SAIT is cisco wireless, which means that you either need a cisco card to be able to connect or the wep key. You can try to ask somebody at the help desk or the net admin. if you could have the key but i doubt that they would give it out. If they do then props to you.

Yeah I can connect to all three wireless networks in the Clayton Caroll Building but I cant access the web. asked the guy in the computer store how to connect and he said you can't. Its only for instructors and administration.

The SAIT wireless network is in preliminary testing right now, they are still working out the bugs in access and restrictions so that people off the street arent able to use it.
There is currently some limited connectivity around the John Ware building (however there is a LOT of interference in that building). You will also have limited connectivity in the H building in the classes on the north side of the building closest to the John Ware.

The wireless networks show up, however they have been restricted via WEP and you are unable to obtain a valid DHCP IP address.
The ones I have listed above (tsunami) are the only ones that are working. Those are the networks that us CNT guys have set up with no encryption. But they will go up and down as we do labs.

ACAD currently has a wireless network setup on the 5th Floor In all the Visual Communications Studio rooms. If your fiancee is in the Photo departement and she has a powerbook, then only thing she needs to do is track down the Mac Tech of the school, His office is on the fourth floor right beside the I/O Lab. His name is Greg.

Once she finds him, he can probably help her out from there.

Only problem is usually there is always a class in the VC studios, so i dunno how the teachers will react. She can prolly use the internet in those rooms from 12:00 - 2:00 (lunch hour)

haha, i tried going wireless and i got connected to one in the g building

hm....just tried it again in heart building on main floor
i was able to go wireless again
