Agreed. With the money spent on insuring 2 cars, maintaining 2 cars and all that, you could easily repair everything, including rust.

Cars are meant to be driven, not stored. They depreciate if you put them in the garage or not... may as well drive it.

rust repair can get REALLY expensive, especially when it gets to floor boards.
as for insurance, storage insurance so you can do some REALLY fun mods over winter and have a much more entertaining car when summer hits

Nothing beats bagging the shit out of a beater in the winter, no worries about rock chips, fender benders etc. without having full coverage on a cheap car(no collision) my insurance was less than half of my summer car

A winter beater can be bought for as little as 100$, and insurance is significantly cheaper(no collision).

    Other Pros include:

    -F*#k washing it
    -F*#kvacuming it
-F*#k Worring about you dirty shoes
    -F*#k being careful around curbs
    -F*#k lettin it warm up
    -F*#k were you park it
    -F*#k door dings

So as you can see it is beneficial to own a winter beater, maybe not for everyone but then again....to each his own.

Why not have a winter beater? You dont have to worry about incuring damage on it.I camn throw my skis into it without worrying about tearing up the interior. An mentioned insurance is dirt cheap. So many advantages.

You can say the same for a summer beater.

But then you'd be a "J-body owner..." CRINGE you mught get the disease that owners often get called riceritis which involves stickers, planned twin turbo setups, NAWWWSSSS and quoting FF to all your NEW friends... Seriously I tried to drive my car in winter, but you have no idea how fast a car depreciates when a bus is sliding towards it... true story, happy ending

    Hey finboy!
What are some of the insurance companies that would insure a modifiend (turbo) car? Do you know? Would it be a lot more to insure? When i phoned my insurance company they told me to look for a residual market insurer?

For those same reasons I find I would rather drive the "beater" around all year. Save the convertible for our annual road trip to Vegas..

The car drove fine (with snow tires), The LSD saved my ass from getting stuck but on ice it had a tendency to to drift around corners. I stopped driving it after a month cuz I realized that if sumthing happened to it I would be taking the bus. Like the one that nearly hit me. If it wasn't for all those retards on the road I would've driven it cuz as long as you drive it nicely you'll get there, it's everyone else you have to worry about.

The beater I had last year saved me $1500+ on insurance, a hell of a lot cheaper to maintain, I didn't have to really give a damn about it, and was way better on gas

I have an 1990 CRX Si this winter. I have a newer Acura that i park up which is fine because it keeps the kms down on it and i'm able to avoid all the dirt, rock chips and crazy drivers around involved in winter driving. Winter beaters are great! You don't have to worry about door dings in tight parking. They also don't really lose much in value since they are so cheap to begin with.
