    Default Screwy Corsa won't start

    Hi everyone.

Yesterday my brand new Vauxhall Corsa failed. I was very annoyed because I have only had it since the 17th of September. My local garage repaired it but now it has a problem.

Today as I got in it to go to work I turned the key and the engine attempted to start but it died after roughly three seconds. I repeated this several times with the noise becoming louder, longer and more high-pitched every attempt. On the seventh attempt the engine was grinding away for about a minute (seriously) and finally it caught and the engine was running. I went on my way.

As I left work I got in and switched it on. It took three attempts to get the engine running and I was a little frustrated. As I left the traffic lights a few minutes afterwards, a bit of clumsy gearbox use saw the car stall in the middle of a busy street. I turned the key again and there was a low grinding noise. Same the next few tries. I switched the hazard lights on and pushed it to the side of the road. Attempting to get the engine running was a tricky business, I was trying to get it started for about quarter of an hour when suddenly it caught. I left for home. Just as I pulled into my driveway the engine cut out, although it started again on the second attempt. I was going to go out to the garage and have it checked but it was having none of it and my car refused to start completely, that 'car attempting to start' noise really irritating me by now. I called the garage out but they cannot find anything wrong with the car at all other than it won't start for any explicable reason. This is a fairly high-rated garage.

Has anybody got suggestions? (and yes it has petrol in it before any smartass asks me... :P)

If a problem like that happen to a new car, im pretty sure the dealership were you got it from would deal with the problem.

    That was fast...

Yeah I'm taking it back to the dealer, I just wanted to know if there's some obvious fault I'm missing here.

Your starter or solenoid are screwed, not your fault.
