    Default Broken vortech supercharger... again

    Well I snapped the supercharger driveshaft on my vortech supercharger. It snapped off right where the shaft goes into the blower. I've had a few people look at it lately, but i've had no such luck in getting it fixed. Anyways, I'm trying to find somebody who can give me a hand or lead me in the right direction, without sending it back to vortech. I've had a few people with a 2 piece design, but it will have a weak point which I don't want. Any information would be appreciated.

    Try the mustang shop. I know its not a mustang blower but they deal with vortech i believe

    Depending on which vortec blower it is, you might be able to pull it apart and get a new shaft from vortec. I think that is on the 2 peice design... but not sure which one you have...

    It's the old design, so they don't make this shaft anymore. They want like 1200 bucks american to upgrade to the new design.

    hmmm I was afraid of that.... perhaps you could get one custom made? Guyon racing can do it, they have a waiting list though. I would do like redline says and take it to Davenport... they might have one around.

    ya i'd take it to Derek at Guyon as said above. They can probably turn you a new shaft.
    Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.

    Another machine shop you could try is Colecraft 681-3683 .Trevor might be able to help you.

    Thanks for the info guys, finally got it fixed through the mechanic who installed it. Aerotech next to davenport came up with a good design. Should pick it up tonight, so i'll post pics of the repair.

    Is it snapping the shear pin adapter. What we did was remove some of the outer shaft. Remove the shear shaft and weld a longer extension on it then turn it down on the lathe. Then we redrilled and used hardened set screws on both sides.

    So anybody else notice that guyon is now out of business! They have a sign that says "look for us in the 2005 season". I guess Pierre took all the business with him

    Pierre sold the place a while back.Some tool drove it into the ground.From what I've heard Pierre is going to re open it again,thank god cause they sold a lot of cool shit that nobody else carried.

    So here's the story:

    Waited 2 months for my supercharger to be repaired. Finally got finished today, a new driveshaft for my supercharger was built. So I picked the car up, and got about 2 kms down deerfoot when I heard a loud bang. So I look in my rear view mirror and I see this big chunk of something flyin' through the air. We pull over and look under the hood and the driveshaft for the supercharger is completely gone. It broke right in half, one peice flew up and put a big dent in my hood, then came down and snapped off the bolts for the bracket for the power steering pump, leaking power stearing fluid everywhere. The other piece snapped off the mounting brackets for my radiator then flew underneath the car. God only knows what damage there is underneath the car. When it snapped off it pretty much totalled the blower for the charger. So that's the story so far, and this all happened about 3 to 5 minutes after I had picked it up from being repaired. So after spending all of this money repairing the thing, I get this. So the chargers comin' off and i'm done with boost. I'm hoping that somebodies gonna pay for some of the repairs because this is fuckin' rediculous. Just wanted to vent for how pissed I am about my fuckin' car right now.

    shitty to hear dude. The shop who made the repair should definately be responsible for some compensation
