Default Motorcycle insurance Q (for the R6 owners)

What is everyone paying for insurance right now. I'm seriously considering one of the R6's for sale.

    More specifically for me:

24 year old driver, clean record. I have my class 5 and 6. I've had both for nearly 7 years, but I haven't had a motorcycle insured for the last 3 years.

What are the current R6 drivers here paying??

im 21. 03 gsxr 600. not an r6 but really it doesnt differ much from bike to bike. I am paying $1200 a year ($100 a month) full coverage. 1 ticket. But to branch off a question I want to take insurance off my bike for the winter cause i dont want to pay. Its a loan for the bike and thats why I needed full coverage in the first place but when im not riding it in the winter can I take the insurance off or not? Since its a loan. anyone know about this?

i dont think so, if its a loan from the bank they need u to have full coverage all the time to cover the bike in case something happens to it to protect their investment aka loaning to u! as told by Pro-Am for financing.....

and yes it does differ from bike to bike, the insurance all depends on the bike, year, make, model and the main part if the brand is a risk factor! like if the particular bike is a accident risk.... so just say if in one year in Canada there are 40 accident claims from a 04 600RR and only 20 claims from a 04 GSXR600, u'll be paying more cuz u drive a 600RR!

so which means u pay more to cover their accidents, which the insurance wants to cover their losses through ur premiums..

and i dont think u can cancel bike insurance just for the winter, i was told u have to buy for a full year! so thats the downside u only get to ride 6-8 months of the year but haveta buy the whole year coverage!

actually before you guys start flaming. Do youguys pay the whole amount? If you do.. whos the sucker now?

With the insurance company I went through. I paid $138/month. when it was off season $45/month for storage.. then when season hit again.. $138/month. So far this year.. I only paid 3 months of full coverage and I just cancelled with no penalties.

I did the same with my last bike, with cheaper insurance during winter. But I did pay a lum sum, having the whole year calculated accordingly.
