    Default Engine Weight Difference...

Does anybody know the weight difference between a B16A motor, and an H22? Just the engine, not a whole car.

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure its more than 30lb's. The weight difference affects the handling a lot. I dont see 30lbs doing that...?

I *think* the difference between h22a and one of the d-series motors was like 100lbs. I read it in a SCC article a long time ago, but don't remember exact numbers. A lot heavier, but the good outweigh the bad, so to speak.

Not sure on weight between d-series and b-series.

    I think anywhere from 50lbs-100lbs.
There have been swaps done before, and I've read the handling's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

nope i recently got the chance to check out an H22a EG civic. that thing rips like hell! and the nosedive thing isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. and with proper suspension tuning the adverse effects could probably be eliminated. definite quartermile cars tho!

I remember it being something like 60-75lbs at the VERY most.

hey, so if ti was like around a 100lbs difference, wouldn't it fix the problem by throwing in a 100lbs stereo in the back?

And wouldn't it mess up the peoples' suspensions who do have stereos?

Im pretty sure its 60-75lbs at most. There isnt that much of a weight difference, people are just bitchy. Ive talked with a few people who have done this swap into a Civic or a CRX and both said it didnt affect the car that much.

There is a 35 lb difference between a B16 and H22 with engine and tranny. Not as much as most people think.

Bigger displacment means nothing, its all about engine architecture, a 500 cid caddy motor, wieghs less than a 396 cid big block chev... Maxt
