The only drawback to a large board is more idots. But that's what moderators are for.

My car club has almost exactly 3,000 members, but only about 900 have posted more than 10 posts.
And there are SOOO many idiots! We even have a special section for fighting, its called "The Ring".
People just go there to swear at eachother and say stupid things...
