not sure, it doesn't open, just hear the whirring of the motor

Did you notice it was getting really slow or anything before it stopped working completely? Might be something like the gear that drives it off the motor is worn or suchlike. If its belt driven the belt might be stretched out. I couldn't see it being too hard to fix, hardest part would be removing and reinstalling the headliner in all likelihood. Don't know how easy it might be to troubleshoot the problem once you've done that though.
