    Default turbo celica no fmu

My neighbor made his own home made turbo kit for his celica sohc 2.2, he runs as much as 12psi with out any type fuel manegment and the car has run just fine with over a month of hard driving on it. Anyone know how?!?!? it should detonate!!! does toyota really have that great of stock fuel system?!?!?

One month isn't that long a time, he'll blow his engine soon enough...

there is NO way he would run that car on 12psi with no fuel mods, or fuel managment...

I am surprised he ran more than 7psi without any mods...

He's very much so B.S.ing you my friend...the ONLY way I can see him doing that is if he swapped in a 3S-GTE, and even then, 12psi is the max of the stock ECU IIRC...

might be using extra injectors, but not many people use those any more

12 psi on a engine not designed for it will blow immediately, a month is a fucking long time

he's pulling your leg or running the celica all trac ecu/injectors.

Typically people that turbocharge the 5SFE engine use larger injectors, quite often without any form of management. The typical injector size is 360cc/min green top mk3 supra injectors, however, imho, are still not big enough...

    Quite common anyways.

fyi 3SGTE fuel cut occurs at 12psi...you can easily run more than that...

We checked his injectors and they are green tops from a supra. Hes still claims he did not install them and they must have been already on the car when he bought it. the car came with lots of mods

i agree, it will blow up sooner or later if left like this. I am just amazed it worked at all. He's getting a fmu asap, showing him this forum has convinced him he needs one

Like I said, this is quite commonly done in the MR2 community. It could be reliable for years. Some people do suffer from lean conditions with these injectors though.

Not optimal by any means, but that doesnt mean it's destined to blow up...
