Wastegate issues?

hi everyone, looking for some help here.

getting some extremely loud wastegate-like noise from my 90 Talon, from about 2800 revs and up. no power either.

anyone have that prob too? anyone know what it could be?

i have briefly checked the hoses to and from the i.c. and they seem to be fine.

the dash boost guage (i know it's not very accurate at all) is registering boost at normal levels (.5-.8bar).

Any response would be great.

I recommend you do a boost leak test before proceeding any further. There's probably a hole or crack in a hose that you just can't see.
