Default Reasonably priced custom exhaust manifold for FI

I'm almost giving up on a search for a shop that can do a good reasonably priced turbo exhaust manifold for b-series. I am looking for a ss short tubular style like the ones they have at rank1racing.

I have been quoted for prices locally and the prices here almost doubles up since I don't know them.

I would prefer to get the manifold locally but if I can't find anyone here that can do it for a fair price I might as well find it somewhere else.

    Thanks.

I just looked thru the pm's we exchanged and I quoted you $700 for this style manifold and downpipe. How is that "very high" ?? lol

Maybe you should have a look on max revs site and re check your prices.

If you want a cheap manifold go buy one a cheezy ebay one.

I'll just give everybody a quick breakdown of what these things cost.

CNC cut head flange: $65 USD
Laser Cut downpipe flange: $45 CAD
Laser cut T3 flange: $25 CAD
2 Laser cut Tial flanges $40 CAD
    304SS manifold peices $60 CAD
2.5" or 3" ubends for downpipe $75 CAD
Matching exhaust flanges for dp $20
    ------------------------------------------------------
So we have around $350 dollars in materials. What do you think I should be making to fabricate it all together???? I spend at least 8 hours making both peices so you tell me. lol

The thing with most of those manis is that most don't clear a/c and p/s. Getting one made locally will cause you less headaches as things are made to your needs and can be modified. I'm assuming you have a g2 teg cause I think I've see you around and they have very limited space to work with.

BMC also don't produce log manis anymore....they have this new design that costs alot more.

Yeah 596 CAD plus shipping sounds like a great deal for something you're gonna buy online, won't know if it'll work perfectly and won't be guaranteed to GET the item at all because of shipping and border issues etc.

Legendboy is Local, honest, does great work (look at his welds compared to that stuff you posted) and WILL deliver the goods

    hmmmmmm.....which would I choose?

We're talking about quality, fit and finish here jaylo. $700 canadian for a turbo manifold and DP is a steal, especially for the amount of work involved ( I know I made my own, poorly I might add). Not to mention if you have any problems with an aftermarket manifold cracking (which they do often) its your responsibility to find someone to fix it.

Most of the manis come with a warranty but it's just alot of downtime shipping back to get it rewelded.

I would rather pay 50% more to actually know the guy doing it and being able to see his work installed in cars in calgary. The welds look amazing, Would you rather trust someone locally or someone with a PO box?

I went with Corey as well and it's so much easier to deal local... He's a good guy and he's been patient with me through my install. I even broke one of my WG bolts off and it was all stuck inside the flange causing a massive leak. I phoned corey and the next afternoon he took a couple of hours of his time to fix the whole thing for me. This is just an example of why i went with him. Also Im sure if (which i doubt) the mani cracks Im sure he could have fixed in no time for me as well!

if your going to do an "econo-turbo" setup, I say don't do one at all. Because your going to end up spending more than you intend on, and cheap out on parts that will break and you'll end up having to replace it later on. If you want a decent setup, do it right the first time.

And there are always things I can do to cut down on the price. I can do a hell of a good job mig welding up a nice mild steel manifold and I can charge alot less for it because it takes me about 1/4 the time. Also switching to mild steel will save money on materials and also saw blades. Instead of using a $65USD head flange, I can use a $25USD laser cut head flange....etc...etc...etc...

This is the reason I like to have people tell me their budget right off the bat. That way there isn't any shell shock when I tell them prices. I can almost 100% of the time fit to someones budget
