Depends on the car, If it's a POS than take it to your local mech.
If it's a newer vehicle than try to take it to the dealer that sells that kind of car.

Talk to David at Auto Diagnostic Center. They do good, honest work. He showed me the inspection sheets that they use and it's quite comprehensive. they charge $170 (If I remember correctly). I've dealt with him a few times and have always been impressed with his honesty and candor, the two things you want most from a mechanic IMO.
