Default 4 lug vs 5 lug

I read in SCC a little while ago, they converted their s13's 4lug hub to a 5lug one. THe reason was for greater variety in brake choices I believe.

BESIDES brake options, are there advantages/disadvantages to 4 vs 5 lug? or even 4x100 vs 4x114.3? Or are they just different to piss us off?

I've heard most switching from 5 to 4 lug for weight reduction. Most switch from 4 to 5 lug for looks.(ricer like me) At least with integras.

ITR's have a five-lug pattern. Five is stronger than four, so it's not just for looks.

Probably get a better selection of rims with fivers.

5 bolt is better. it is very common to convert mustangs like mine to 5 lug patterns.

more designs come in 5 lug, 5 looks better in the center for certain applications...and 4lug does look kinda cheap sometimes

It seems like whenever there's rims for sale around here it's always 4 bolt though...

More lugs can also handle more torque (not that this has necessarily been a problem except with ultra ultra light wheels, but it can be). The weight reduction from reducing one lug and nut would be pretty negligible anyways.
Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.

Upgrades in rotors/calipers are easier to find on 4 x 114 or 5 bolts. Its easier to find beefier setups on vehicles with 4 x 114 and 5 bolt patterns. I guess its a matter of interchangability (is that even a word?) 4 x 100 is really common for older Honda/Acura, but finding rotor and caliper upgrades are much more seldom than the other patterns.

What about 6 Bolts???? he he he... usually people are swaping to a 5 bolt to handle the new power their car is pumping out.. ill try and find the picture of what happens when you try to put 500whp to a 4lug holding on to some MT drags
