    Default Newsgroup search site?

I remember I used to go to a site to search for songs/movies on newsgroups. I totally forgot what it was, and I can't find anything else good.

    Anyone wanna help me out?

It says you need a "premium account" to do a file search on that site.

no you don't. use it to search, find the newsgroup and use your news reader to find the group.

the premium is only to search individual files, you can be unregistered and search for complete posts and stuff. You can also search by group too to see what is in a specific newsgroup.

I believe newzbin is the only usenet indexing site on the net so this should be the one you used before.

    http://binnews.com/
    - Original indexing site from long ago. Now requires pay for any access. Once they switched to pay format, tons of free ones started. I believe newzbin was one of them

    http://newzbin.com
    - Best free listing for completed posts. Lets you search individual files if you pay.

    http://www.audiofind.com/
    - Search individual files from many music groups.

    http://alt.binaries.nl/
    - Search individual files in several categories. Limited newsgroups indexed.

    http://www.mp3locator.com
    - Use to be the best individual file site, then was disabled. They still index usenet but they only let you search inside their usenet download program. The program has a free demo, last time I checked it was still one of the better file searches.

These are the ones I found the last time I checked which was years ago. There are probably more now.

For general free use, newzbin.com works the best. If you are looking for something specific and rare the free search will miss alot because it is just a list of postings real people have taken the time to list on the site.

Misses a ton of music that you get with the sites that just index the headers of all the posts.
