    Default Sony Playstation PSP

Just curious if anyone is interested in any of the PSP's I'm in Japan right now will be coming home sometime soon for just a short visit. Since the PSP will be released on the 12th (before I come home), I would have no qualms with picking up a couple/few and sending them off to you folks back home. Heck, you'll be some of the first in Canada to own one.

As for games, there are quite a few games that are available out here as well, but they are in Japanese (so beware). If those don't suit your fancy, then remember that the PSP's can also used as a media-viewer (mpg, avi, divx and also MP3's)

So there ya go, just thought I'd stirr up some interested. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or just post on here or my own home forum (where I check much more frequently) www.pozland.com/forum

    Take care folks

    MM99lude got it right.

They are selling here for bewteen $280 and $330 depending on which version you pick up. Although they are the same model, the different 'Versions' come with different accessories.

here are two models... the full she-bang which includes the PSP, carry-strap, extra battery, headphones, carry-case, memory card (32mb), and recharger - $330

    OR

The Basic Model which includes the PSP, re-charger, and battery for $280 + shipping

I'm going to Japan on July 6th and coming back on the 15th.. I'm very interested in picking one up myself.. do you know if it's compatible to NA games? it'd be pointless to buy the system and find out it is region locked

Are they doing the same as PS2 where content is regional protected?

Where JPN units can't play American relase and vice versa?

well thats good then. at least they followed the trend that all handheld systems are region free. i just thought that since the games are on mini cd cartridges that they'd put an encryption code on it for region play only.

the only negetive thing that i've read about the psp is that it can only support 2hr of continuous play time compared to the the ds's 6-10hr play time.

where did you hear that it was 2hrs?

actually gotta correct myself the psp is region free for games but may not be for other types of media....got this quote

"Will I be able to import games or other multimedia releases from other countries to play on my PSP?

Yes and no -- you will be able to play games on a PSP from any country, but you may not be able to play all types of PSP media. The PSP UMD format is fully equipped with region encoding procedures on all formats published to the media -- games, movies and music. However, Sony Computer Entertainment has chosen not to use the region encoding system on videogame titles. Importers should exercise caution in purchasing products from other countries, but import gaming fans will be able to play games from other countries on PSP"

Sorry about the delay folks, but I was sleeping (Japanese time zone & all). With regards to the battery life, it was just like the Apple iPod, it sucked when the first versions were released (in thise case, when the test-review models were released) but that error has been corrected. The batterys are now good for 4-5 hours, which is pretty decent considering the graphics that it's producing.

If you are quite seriously worried about battery life, then you can pick up the big 'kit' which comes with an extra battery (and oodles of other stuff for now very much more $).

As for the region codes, as someone pointed out, they are NOT locked onto specific areas. That was Sony's idea to begin with, to allow travelers and people around the world to share games and play eachother from different places (hence the wireless access to both internet and ability to wirelessly connect to other PSP's).

So there you go folks, any other question? Anyone want one? lol

If you are intersted, then let me know & we'll arrange payment. I will be returning to Canada on the 15th of this month, but will only be bringing ONE with me, any others I purchase for you folks will be mailed (due to importation tarriff's). Oh, with regards to other electronics, I'll gladly purchase anything you want from Japan as long as it costs me zero bucks (ie: I don't have to worry about the $10 train ride to/from Akihabara, Shibuya, Sakuragicho, etc etc etc).
