$12k for the most basic of transportation is not all that bad. Definetly NOT an enthusiasts vehicle though.
Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.

I like the elantra GT quite a bit. I *may* have considered one if the price were lower. Too expensive for a hyundai still.

As for the original question, I'd take one over a cavailer or sunfire anyday..if that were the choice.

sure its great, if u consider replacing all your braking components twice a month to be the norm...

Have you personally experienced this before, or did you hear this from someone?

    that's what a warranty's for.

For around $150/month for a lease, its a great deal as a winter car if you plan on keeping it for 3 or 4 years (or however long the lease term is)

They are good cars and they are supposed to be quite un-braking of parts. So i have hear. And if some shiz does go down they have one of the best warrenties in the biz. Dont get one for tuning, but for driving they are great.

I drove an older model (2000-2001?) for a week as a rental car. Seemed pretty solid, nice fit and finish. Granted it wasn't luxurious, but it wasn't cheap either.

i know a few people with hyundais and ive been in their cars before. brake problems seem to be a reoccurring theme with those cars. mostly warped rotors and very distressing sounds when braking..

u gota be kidding. warranty is not a substitute for poor build quality.

I don't know if they've changed thier ways, but a few years ago my aunt had an elantra and things ALWAYS went wrong with it. Whenever they'd take it in, the vast majority of the time they'd say "warrenty doesn't cover that"
I'm with jeff on this one, I'd MAYBE trust a 4 cyl tibby, nothing else at this point as the data is shaky. If you want a solid cheap car, you can't go wrong with an echo as a reliable daily driver.

And when the warranty expires? Most people dont have the time to take their cars to the dealers every month.

For that price range, you could get a cavalier and i'm willing to bet it's much better than a hyundai. You could also get a Toyota Echo for around the same price.

Those are the last cars I would consider...Too many problems with them.
