    Default Explorer Causing "Errors"

1st off, I would just like to say that my computer is messed up as it is, but this has gone too far!

Anyways, whenever I close Internet Explorer after taking a look on the net, it says that I have caused an error in explorer.exe, and then the computer crashes. The thing is though, it only does it sometimes...what do I do???

And one more problem...my default home page cannot be set to anything else...it stays on this C:\spex\start.html page, and whenver I switch it, it just goes right back. I'm pretty sure it's a virus, but ad-aware and Norton aren't picking it up. Any suggestions? Thanks a whole bunch!

FYI: It's a Sony Vaio computer...probably 4 years old now..if that helps anyone....

run some spyware cleaners in safe mode

adaware + spybot search and destroy

after the bios screen goes, and before the xp screen comes up, press f8 to access safe mode
