    Default Airport Jobs

I know a few people on here have jobs at the airport, just wondering how I would go about getting one. Something along the lines of a baggage handler, basically anything that I could do while going to school and doesn't require any extensive pre-employment training.

    Any suggestions?

Get a job with ATS (airport terminal services)

They are the guys who load/unload guide in/out WestJet planes. I'm not sure what the whole situation in Calgary is like, but in Edmonton, on a 6 hour shift you work for about 2 hours, the rest of the time you get to spend in the "lounge"/lunch room. In the lunch room we have pool/pingpong/xbox/dvds/etc

    It's an amazing job.

I work as a baggage handler here in PG. And trust me its not hard to get in, you don't need any big connections or anything. Most people just don't know that. Just dump resumes off at globe ground and I think central mountain air has its own handlers (thats who I work for) westjet has its own (you have to apply online for them and they pick and choose when they need somebody) I'm sure there is plenty more ground companies all over there, just talk to the counterperson of the different airlines and see who handles their ground, then ask how to get a hold of the boss of said company. Easy stuff, a lot of ramp companies hire kids out of high school and/or still in high school I know one of the companies here has a high turnover rate, they are always hiring, most likely the same scenario there

My only issue is that I don't exactly have a clean driving abstract, how big of an issue is that?

It's a non-issue if you are not driving, some companies will make you give them one anyway but there is only one way to find out!

ATS handles Westjet flights in every city but Calgary. Westjet has their own TAC (turnaround crew) agents in Calgary.
Pay is alright, benefits are huge.

    YAY!!!!

just before I was going to post some openings at ATS

    WE ARE HIRING!!!!!!!!!

Chris, I sent you a pm,

baggage handling is a decent job, can be hard at some times, but for the most part very slack.

Im on a 4 on 4 off crew "work" 12hrs a day and usually really work for about 5-7hrs.

The pay kinda sucks to start, but if your motivated and work hard you can move up very fast, when I first started, I knew fuck all about anything to do with planes, now im a ramp lead 10 months later.

anyways, full benefits after 3 months I believe, 100% of everything.

    Scott

Im making a link for some info in another thread right now.

Yeah, saturday nights with Westjet was the shit.
There would be a 3 hour break from 10-1am, and we would all cook steak and play video games.

Every hour of work you do, you usually get about an hour to do absolutely nothing.

I'd prefer not to say, but its a healthy increase from ramp agent to ramp lead.

its based on how fast you learn and how much you want to learn.

If your qualified to do the job, there shouldnt be a problem.

    lots of training though.
