Default ATTN: Speed and power athletes

I'm looking for athletes right now for next season to be on either my four man crew or my two man crew. I guess I should tell you I do bobsleigh. I'm a pilot and I'm starting to recruit for next year. This year was good, I came in fifth at nationals and am getting better every day. If anybody thinks they are strong and fast and would be interested in this let me know. Weight is a factor so if you're 160 pounds or less it's not feasible. Make that 170. I can set up times for us to push (in a facility on ice, not on the track) for whoever would like to give it a shot. Going down the hill would be a posibility this year if you can push ok. Strength is key - good squat, good clean and good bench. If you haven't got those don't count yourself out - that can be worked on. PM me for more info.
    Thanks guys.

C'mon Wildcat - it's not that bad. And it only lasts a minute, you should try it out.

    So if I'm 215 it's a no go right?

Just out of curiosity is there a max total weight for the sled and crew?

Or is lighter just better for some reason of which I am not aware?

He said 170 OR LESS. So if you're if you're quixk and powerful you might be perfect...

215 is a decent weight, basically the heavier the better. The maximum weight for a two man team is 390kg combined weight of the crew and sled. So the heavier the crew is the lighter the sled will be and the easier it is to push. My brakeman for selection races this year was 240 pounds and that was a big help. Don't worry about being too heavy! The heavier you are, or as close to 390 as possible, the faster you will go down the hill.

    bench - 225 for one
squat - 315 for one (full squat)
clean - 100kg for one (power clean)
    30 metre with spikes - 4 sec.

These are on the lower end of what I'm looking for but they may not be necessary. When I started I could only clean 80kg. There are people who can't do that much for any of those lifts who can still push extremely fast because of their mechanics when pushing and their speed. Only way to find out is to try pushing a sled.

MOST guys who can squat 400+ for a single, power clean 120+ for a single and close grip bench 300+ for a single and still run a fairly quick 30m will push very fast.

So I've got a few guys showing interest in this, anybody else? There is testing for the current athletes on sunday the 2nd at 3pm, so if anybody is interested in taking a look it will be at Canada Olympic Park in the icehouse (west side of the park at the bottom). Anybody who is interested should at least come and watch to see what pushing is, and there is ice time after the testing from four to five for anybody who wants to try a few pushes. For anybody still interested after trying some pushing we can talk about getting into the sled for a couple of runs with me in the next few weeks. Any questions PM me.

If anybody does show up I will be wearing a red helmet with a visa sticker on it, and I'll be pushing from driver's (the front of the sled).

it's been much better this year, all the races are much closer, pushes are getting faster. I got down in 56.7 in two man and in 55.7 in four man this year.
