    Default Film camera reccomendations...

I've been thinking about getting in aviation photography as a hobby. DSLR cameras are a bit out of my budget , but I'm wondering about getting a film camera as a cheaper alternative . I would need to use a decent telephoto lens of 400 or 500 mm ,plus a shorter lens for close shots. Any suggestions ?? I notice the prices on e-bay are quite reasonable compared to DSLR cameras.

    Thanks.

That 400 or 500 mm lens is going to cost a fortune.

The Canon Elan 7E or Canon EOS 3 would probably be a good camera. I don't know anything about film camera's, just going on the features I like to use on my DSLR.

What is your budget for a body? I have a used DRebel that I am thinking of getting rid of.

A 50 mm lens is pretty good, but it's still a couple hundred dollars and you can't do much with it in terms of zoom or wide angle. A 50mm is my basic lens that I use sometimes and although it's nice and compact, it doesn't do as much for me as other lenses do cause there's no versatility

I have a 35mm lens that was $300. That is cheap!

Most of my other lenses are worth over $2000.

a 400 mm lens is probably over $2000, but I haven't checked lately.

ah yes that's the one you were talking about the 35 mm lense. Was looking for one the other day, where did you buy your lenses?

my '50mm lens' is actually a 35 mm but because of the magnification of the dslr it is closer to 50mm...and I think I paid $400 for mine from the camera store a little over 2 years ago. I'm assuming it has gone down in price since then since bernard's was about 100$ cheaper

    EOS-3 F 100 --- VERY GOOD CAMERAs, and good price ( $900 US )

    EOS - 1V F5, F6 can't go wrong ! and good price too .. compare to D-SLR !

Depends on your budget .. for average users, NIKON or CANON .. can't go wrong !

If you do a lots of tele-photo, and sport shootings .. go for Canon ! their USM tele lens are awesome !
