nope, My guess would be that 1000's of members see what you see.

Yes over 1000 users lost access to the marketplace tonight.

Beyond is continually improving the experience for our users participating on the forums. One major concern was that there are alot of users registering for the sole purpose of selling stuff on the marketplace, never to be seen again. Restrictions are in place to lower these "hit and run" accounts.

For those that still have access to the marketplace, more restrictions will be put into place in the near future. Moderators will be given access to remove users from the marketplace who are breaking the marketplace rules. Zero tolerance will be in effect as soon as the features are implemented. The rules have been up for a very long time, and they have been broken far too many times.

    Please post any comments/suggestions.

so does that mean that only users who have broken the market place rules previously have lost access to the marketplace

I know we have all broken a few rules here and there...and yes, there are members who break them repeatedly...but I am wondering as to if you already have items for sale...and are "locked out"...what happens then??

    just curious...

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Not neccessarily. This is based on Both Post count as well as people abusing the system.

Also, to curb the original misinformation from danno, he was not banned as he says he was, this is the screen he sees:

So are you banning users from the marketplace even with a fairly high trader rating?

so if i were to guess, i would say that i have a very low post rating. i've posted a few times wanting to buy items, never a problem. so imo my post count is the reason i can't view the marketplace. correct?? why does posting affect what i can read or not??? just a little confused

how are we supposed to gain access back to the marketplace then? I mean, just because I don't have that high of a post count doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to buy and/or sell stuff to people here right?

Actually the whole point of this restriction is because people register on beyond for the sole purpose of buying/selling goods. This is not a classifieds website.

User post content in all other sections of the website will be used to judge if a user is a contributing member or a quick registration to sell something. Post count, registration date, and post content are among the few things that are checked before access is granted.

If you don't have access now, you can gain access by:

    1. Helping other users who are posting and require help
    2. Contribute in discussions
    3. Remove yourself from flame-like discussions
    4. Don't post for the sake of posting

note: Posts in Ask Leo are not taken into consideration.

Things you have no control over:

    1. The date you signed up to be a member.

k, so if i have access to the marketplace, am i safe for the time being, as in, if i don't break any rules and i continute to contribute to this forum, is it still possible for me to lose access to the marketplace?

i find when i go through the forums performance for example, if i had a question to ask i would seach first to see if someone else has asked first. and about 90 percent of the time the question has already been asked. so if i were to post more people would tell you go search for it. i don't understand why people get limited access to this if they are seaching. if i have something to say like i do now i say but if i don't i kept my mouth shut. if you take away all the people like me who search to learn and buy, your also taking away from the sellers, as they have less of an audience

    Finally!

Good work. Now we don't have to deal with members who come here solely to use the site as a free classifieds section!
