EVO 7 Coming to Calgary.... Maybe....

Was talking with someone yesterday and apparently someone on this board (Not naming any names ) bought an EVO 7 from the US for about 15 000 (USD). I heard they were registering it in California and going to try to bring it across.

Hopefully everything works out. Good luck getting it across though, it's going to be tough. Hope you got some mad loop holes up your sleeve. It would be pretty interesting if you got it across though, never seen an EVO in real life, and I heard that the EVO 8's won't be imported to Canada

Hopefully this won't open another "What Can I and Can't I import to Canada" thread, just wanted to share a story.

It was from one of the guy's girlfriends, so I am not sure if it was an EVO 7 or not. She said EVO 7, but could of have an older model.

If it is an EVO 7, it is probably badly damaged

I would like to know what loop holes he is usuing.. accoring to the list of cars permited to me brought across put out by transport canada that car is not allowed on candain public roads. I tried to get a opel comodore over here from aussy land.. there is now way its comming over her for a decent price.. i have to pay almost teh full amount of the car again in taxes.. so screw it

Evo 7's cost 65,000 CSD here where I am. 15.000 USD seems a bit.. unbelievable.

How many illegal ways are there of bringing in such a car and driving it? Making it look a bit more like a regular lancer or cedia sedan, etc?

I don't think how it looks has anything to do with it. its the registration/insurance parts that require loopsholes i believe, and they don't really care how the car looks like.

And if registered in California, doesn't that mean you would have to go for annual emissions testing? Or whenever they are required?

Maybe the 15 g's is what it costs just to get it imported, not counting the cost of the car itself.

My Evo VII is coming at the beginning of january, needs a bit of work, won't be on the streets till march. I will post up pics of the process.

If someone else is bringing an evo to calgary, I won't be the only one..booooo

And at what point does someone ask why you're still visiting after XX months? its not like there are a million Evos running around so you can just fade into the crowd or anything.

I saw an EVO VI rally car on a trailer in the summer. I think it was here for that rocky mountain rally or something.

Go to any Canadian Rally Championship race. You'll see the Canadian registered Evos. Ask those guys how they did it.
