Here's what I remember from many years ago while visiting friends and classmates living in rez.
The single and double rooms in traditional residences (Rundle & Kananaskis) are the same size, except you won't have a roomie. Furnishings include a twin-size (single) bed, desk and chair.
Each wing has its own communal bathroom and there are no kitchen facilities so you'll most likely be eating at the Dining Centre. IIRC, each wing has its own laundry.

Which is closer?
- Kananaskis Hall is closer to the parking lot if you have a car. Parking costs more of course.
- Rundle Hall is closer to Brentwood Village Mall (Safeway, London Drugs, Blockbuster, TD Canada Trust, Harvey's, etc).
- Both are about the same distance to the engineering building where most of your classes will be.
- Both have underground access to the Dining Centre and about the same walking distance.

Pack only what you need, and bring ear plugs! You'll have fun at rez and meet lots of new people. Good luck in your studies.
