You’ve got an E500 wagon for hauling your Saint Bernards, and an E55 AMG for hauling ass, but what you’d really love to have is a bad-boy Benz capable of taking the dogs for a thrill ride. So why can’t Mercedes make an E55 AMG wagon? Well, actually, they do, and it’s very popular in Europe. But now it’s your turn, Captain America. To set the E55 AMG wagon apart from your piddling E500, AMG slapped on deeper front and rear aprons and carved rocker panels to help push the atmosphere out of the way. Passengers will know they are in for a treat when they sit in the nappa leather-covered AMG sport seats, eyeball the black Birdseye maple trim, and peek over the driver’s shoulder at the special AMG gauges. The same Harmon Kardon Logic 7 audio system that’s found in the E55 sedan treats wagon passengers to a seven-channel surround sound, twelve-speaker aural overload that will only be surpassed when you fire up the AMG thrill-mill underhood. That engine, of course, is the real reason anyone wants an E55 wagon. Stereos and interior styling are nice, of course, but what you really want is 469 hp and 516 pound-feet of torque. Sitting still to 60 in 4.6 seconds says we’re right.
