    hey my buddy has a 96 318i and he need a new tranny auto or standard perferably stick cause its auto right now and he wants to convert it if any one can point me in the right direction it would be much apprecated

    converting an auto to a standard is a big job

    you have to mount the clutch pedal and mastercylinder, run clutch lines, buy a flywheel/ctuch for the tranny and probably shorten the driveshaft.


    it's not a small undertaking.

    oh we know this.. its gona be a big job but hes gona get it done.. and money isnt the biggest issue

    If money isn't the biggest issue than sell it and buy a 5spd. Unless you are in it for the learning experience it's not going to be worth it. Will never feel the same as a stock 5spd.

    Ya I agree, wont be worth it but if you need the parts used, Bimmerparts in Duncan B.C or locally Manchester Auto but be prepared to be raped.

    If money isnt an issue... get another 318 and sell the current one. Hell for the amount of money required to do the swap I would take that cash, sell the 318 and get a REAL BMW not a slow ass 318.

    haha yes he has concedered selling this one and getting a "real BMW" but the tranny has to be reparied on this one before he will sell it.. so anyone have an auto tranny?
