Peter Laugheed - Worst Hospital

Has anyone else noticed the lack of GOOD dr's at the Peter Laugheed. I am so sick of going there or having friends and family go there and get blown off and sent home with a persciption for t-3's!!

My little brother went to emergency at Peter Laugheed last night because his throat had almost completely closed up from an infection. He had a huge mass on his neck with this infection and the dr's there tried one steriod to get this throat to open up. After it didn't work they came to the conclusion that it would clear up on it's on and tried to send him home!!!

So with my family fighting we got him transfered to the Foothills where they put him on morphine and antibiotics. Within 2 hours he had a specialist doing tests and they told us that if he had just gone home the infection could have entered his blood stream and spread through out his body!!!

What a fucking joke! And this isn't just one incident....this has happen to me and other people i know....and ALWAYS at Peter Laugheed!!

I suggest if you are ever sick to avoid that hospital!

theres actually a conspiracy to send all the med school grads with bad marks to the lougheed and all the ones with good marks get to go to foothills.

my little brother was really sick (puking every 5 minutes and high fever) so we took him in there. they made him wait 7 hours before a doctor saw him. then all they did was stick an IV into him, gave him some pills and sent him home. he went back there 8 hours later....again, same thing....

after then sent him home for the second time, my dad took him to the family doctor and our family doctor called an ambulance for so they could take him BACK!!! WTF!!! this time they finally realized that sending him home won't cure him, those stupid fucks....

he got admitted to a room and had to stay for 6 days....

i don't think doctors there know jack shit or even give a shit...

first off, blame the health care system. next time u vote, vote for someone who will put more money into the hospitals.

second, understand that the er doctors have more important shit to deal with than some pukeface, such as gunshot wounds, stab wounds, or whatever the fuck happens to be in style at the local bars.

third, doctors know their shit. if u dont think theyre doing a fucking amazing job for society, u can go and take your ass to get scammed at some homeopathic hole in the wall.

Canadian Doctors (regardless of where they are trained) are among the BEST in the world, if not the best.

u just make the wieght longer from people with REAL emergancys(crash victims, stab wounds, gunshots)

your local walk in clinic can handle the same shit..even broken arms they can xray etc to save u waiting time in the hosptial so u only go there for the operation.

when people get a soar throat or cuts or something.. the ER is not the place to go.

I remember going to the hospital once for an emergency... my heart rate was running so fast i kept passing out, it hurt to walk or do anything that required me to move.

I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours (trying not to move or blink!!) and when I got admitted, the nurse goes to me ... "finally they let someone back we were all getting bored sitting around here with nothing to do". My mom looked around and there was literally 1 other patient in the area we were in.

Oh and this was at the Lougheed!

It wasn't just a sore throat!! His throat was almost completely swollen shut and he could hardly breathe. If he wasn't given the anitbiotics he got from the dr at the Foothills the infection could have spread through his body! Don't downplay what i told you to a sore throat!

And you know what....you tell me where you are suppose to go when the dr's office is closed and you're in so much pain and you can't take it anymore. The ER is not just for GSW and car crashes.

No matter what the reason the patient is in the hospital they should be given the time and care of any other patient in there. THAT'S what makes a good Dr!

so.. a car crash victim with interal bleeding should have to sit in the waiting room for a couple hours because a couple of kids sprained wrists/ankles??

I received great service the last time I went to Peter Lougheed. I came in with an extreme breathing problems and was really weak. I was admitted into the ER within 5 minutes of ariving and was placed on ventalin, steriods and anitbiotics for 8 hours. Few minutes later they send me in for xrays and then correctley diagnosed me with peumonia which was complicated a hereditary breathing disorder that they discovered. I'm grateful for the service they provided otherwise I would not be here today. People that come in to the ER looking to get fast service for stiches or broken noses IMO can wait while the doctor takes care patients with urgent and life threatening issues.

When My friend cut his finger wide open, they said they couldnt do anything for him, so we went to foothills and they gave him 17 stitches in his hand.... and when I broke my ankle playing soccer, they said it was just a sprain, gave me a tensor and sent me off, went to didsbury hospital, and there were 2 factures in my ankle... Go Lougheed

then maybe you shouldn't have been a tough guy and downplayed your injury in front of whoever was there.

best service by far is form RockyView in teh south. went two times last year. once for mono cause my throat ahd closed up on itslef, i had a bed and iv with steroids in 20 minutes. second was for second degree burns on my right hand fomr picking up a silencer that fell off my friends car on the highway (IDIOT I KNOW!!!) they ahd my hand wrapped up with creams and T3 galore in half an hour.
