Ipod help, transfering songs

Im going to do my best to explain the problem. Hopefully someone here knows the ipod and the itunes system very well.

I had a library setup in itunes with all the songs on my ipod, the library matched what was on my ipod.

I reformatted my computer which deleted all the songs on my comp as well as the ituned software.

I downloaded new songs and reinstalled itunes.

Now my new itunes library does not match whats on my ipod and itunes asks me if I want to delete whats on my ipod and replace it with the new songs on from new itunes libary.

I of course do not want to do that because Ill loose all my songs on my ipod.

All I want to do is add these new songs to the existing songs on my ipod.

How do i do that without having to delete all the current songs on my ipod?

I think I figured it out, I went into Ipod options and changed it to manual setup then just clicked and dragged the songs onto my ipod using Itunes. These Ipods are kind of fucking queer.

it isn't the IPod that is queer, it is iTunes.

I love my Ipod, but it's given me a ton of trouble since the moment i've bought it as well. I have one big playlist because my Ipod won't recognize smaller ones even though my itunes does
