    Default Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 5w20

Anyone knows where I can get a few litres of those in Calgary? I'm having a tough time finding any synthetic 5w20.

Try Wal-Mart. I found 0W30 synthetic there when nobody else had it.

Hmm...it says 5w20 on the oil cap...but I've also heard that the 5w20 is only recommended to meet Cali-emission standards and that 5w30 would work just as fine...but I'd really hate to mess around.

I've read somewhere that the oil change frequency has been reduced to once every 8000kms on the 2001 Civics. That means about 10,000kms with synthetic..assuming that I don't push it too hard...ick

5W30 is okay to use on your car. You won't be able to notice much difference between the 2 different oils. 5W20 is just for emissions and fuel efficiency reasons.

yeah, me too, i looked all over the city and cannot find a synthetic 5w20 oil. i had to settle with Quaker State 5w20 peak performance oil.

That's true.... You can use a 5w30....... It's mainly used to pass emissions test in california

Most manufacturers recommend 5W20 for their new vehicles, but you can get away with 5W30. The difference is so little you cannot tell the difference.

I buy my oil from Costco... 1 box of Castro Syntec (6 bottles) cost $26. 1 box of Castro GTX (12 bottles) cost $20. They also have Pentro Can. oil, and they are even couple bucks cheaper. Not many different weight to pick from though (just 5W30 and 10W30).
