    Default 3rd gear grinding....

My 3rd gear grinds, alot... Its starting to worry me, and causes me problems when I shift hard..... Is there anything I can do.... Im looking at just buying a new tranny and putting it on, unless I can somehow adjust it..... Im pretty sure its the synchros, but it might not be....

    Any suggestions.

Double Clutch(derpress the Clutch twice before throwing it into third) other than that you have a worn Syncro and it would Probably Better to get a used Tranny than Getting it fixed, if this is for a honda Acura, instead of getting the Same tranny, try and find one with Shorter Gears

It feels like it's not aligned properly or something because when it does get in, it shifts rather nicely, but when it misses, the grinding starts when the stick is only about halfway to where it fully engages almost like its grinding something else?? Or maybe that's normal, I don't know anything about trannys.
Try putting it into third before your throw it into Reverse this Ussaly stops the tranny and Alings the reV mesh sos that it wont Grind, other than that change the tranny it comes out to be cheaper than repairing it and Tranny swaps are easy to do, so you shouldnt have to spend a dime on Labour

I was told that prelude transmissions are really strong. I used to have a mr2 and that grinded in 3rd too. I hated it, i could'nt have any fun with the car cause everytime i shifted fast it seemed like i was breaking something. I know how it feels to have a grinding tranny and it sucks! Sorry to hear about that.

make sure your syncros are okay and check to make sure your shift linkage is good and secure.

I had grind on my reverse and first gear (Euro cars have reverse left and forward just like first) and it turned out to be a beaten ball joint on the shift linkage. Now it shifts premium!

When I rebuilt my engine I drained the entire tranny system and put new oil in.

i have this problem with my 3rd gen winterbeater all the time. change your transmission fluid, but make sure you use honda manual transimisson fluid. and try not to use synthetic motor oil if possible cause motor oil does not contain the proper additives, continued use with motor oil can cause stiffer shifting.

that is actually a common problem among 4th gen ludes.
I had a bad 5th gear grind when I had my 4th gen, and according to the Lemon book, it says tranny grinds are pretty common
